2020 Rhapsody in Red
The Rhapsody in Red is our enthusiastic expression of blending from three superior vineyards. Our goal is to make a blend that tastes better than the sum of its' components.
The wine has a lovely dark red hue. Aromas leap from the glass after pouring. Initial notes are seductive and sensual aromas of dark bing cherries, blackcurrant, lilac oil, oak lactone, and wind-blown dried herbs. The initial texture is tight and balanced. The mid-pallet has encompassing flavors of cherry liqueur, black currant, tobacco leaf, floral notes of lilac and lavender.
Texture is plush but has proper acidity and tannins for balance. The finish is long and lingering. Wow! The Rhapsody in is the Goldilocks zone of ready to enjoy but will age very well.
Rhapsody in Red is a Cabernet Sauvignon dominate Bordeaux style blend. We blended two lots of Cabernet Sauvignon with small amounts of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot to create a wine that is unique and superior to each of its component parts. All the grapes were hand-picked, hand-sorted, and destemmed whole berry. The individual lots were fermented with yeast specific for the grape variety and aged in French oak for 8 months prior to blending and return to barrels for an additional 12 months barrel aging. Rhapsody was elevated in 25% new French Oak barrels and bottled unfined and unfiltered.
INGREDIENTS & ADDITIONS: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc, yeast, yeast nutrients, tartaric acid, French oak, and sulfur dioxide.
